TTNC's Environmental Policy

Last Updated: December 20th, 2007

Opening Statement

In the pursuit our mission to provide leading edge Communications services, TTNC uses technologies which are basically friendly to the environment.

In the sense that the use of our Telecommunications network is often a substitute for travel or paper based messages, TTNC is already contributing positively to environmental wellbeing and conserving resources.

We recognise however, that like all businesses, our day-to-day operations can have an effect on the local, regional and global environment in a number of ways and we wish to minimise the potentially harmful effects of such activity wherever and whenever possible.

Commitment to Continuous Improvement and Pollution Prevention

TTNC is committed to continuous improvements in environmental performance and the prevention of pollution in all its activities and in the provision of its services.

As part of our continuing drive for quality in all things we do we have therefore developed a comprehensive policy statement which will enable us to set the targets by which our efforts towards sustainable environmental improvement can be measured and monitored on a regular basis.

In particular TTNC will

  • Meet, and where appropriate, exceed the requirements of all relevant legislation, where no regulations exist TTNC shall set its own standards.
  • Improve consumption of materials in all operations, reduce rather than dispose of wherever possible and promote recycling and the use of recycled materials such as paper and stationary.
  • Consider environmental issues throughout the lifecycle of our network products, equipment and services.
  • Purchase electricity from renewable energy sources.
  • Work in partnership with our suppliers to minimise the impact of their operations on the environment through a quality purchasing policy.
  • Monitor and Audit our environmental performance.
  • Develop systems which significantly reduce paper usage such as emailing Invoices and any other documents.
  • Promote the use of public transport by employees and directors for travelling to and from work.
  • Inform visitors to our Network Operations Centre and offices how they can travel by public transport and encourage them to do so.
  • Encourage staff to consider the environment in all aspects of their work.
  • Include environmental issues in TTNC training programmes and encourage the implementation by all TTNC people of sound environmental practices.
