Types of Premium Rate Service
Premium Rate Services (also known as Special Services) can offer a service, product or content which are charged to the caller's telephone bill. We provide Premium Rate numbers and services for:
- Technical, support, information and help lines
- Competition, voting and donation lines
- Ringtone's and other downloads/products
We do not provide numbers for Sexual Entertainment Services (SES), psychic/tarot lines or One to One live entertainment services.
Memorable 09 Premium Rate Numbers
The cost for calling a Premium Rate Service can cost from 10 pence to £1.53 and can be charged on a 'per call' basis or on a 'per minute' basis (typically from a BT landline). Most Premium Rate Services use telephone numbers starting with 09 and we, in particular, only use memorable numbers in this range.
If a Premium Rate Service costs more than £1.00 per minute and could end up costing more than £30 in total, it will require Prior Permission from PhonepayPlus.
You can forward calls made to your 09 Premium Rate Number to your own landline or mobile number, or we can design, build and host an IVR application such as a competition line or a voting line for you.
Registering with PhonepayPlus
Please be aware that if you are considering setting up a Premium Rate Service then you will need to register with PhonepayPlus and familiarise yourself with the PhonepayPlus Code of Practice.
PhonepayPlus can provide you with advice and guidance about your Premium Rate Service free of charge and we would strongly recommend discussing your ideas with them. This will avoid any issues of compliance and therefore avoid any possible reprimands or fines.

Details of Premium Rate Call Revenue outpayments
Our Call Revenue rates are some of the highest available in the UK. This is how we work:
- A monthly report will be emailed to you on the first working day of the month, relating to calls received the previous month. The report will include the total amount of minutes per number, the total amount of calls per number, the revenue rate, total amount of revenue per number and the total amount of revenue due for all numbers in your account.
- You then email an invoice for the revenue due to our accounts department.
- We will pay you directly by electronic bank transfer 45 days after we receive your invoice.
The minimum payment TTNC makes is £50.00. If the Call Revenue due for a month is not more that £50.00 then you will need to carry this forward to the next month. Once the amount of Call Revenue due to you exceeds £50.00, send us your invoice and we will make a payment.
Ordering a Premium Rate Number
You can't order a Premium Rate Number from our website. In the first instance, fill out the Premium Rate Service request form. This is asking you for some details about the Premium Rate Service you wish to operate and also some information about you and your business.
We will then take a look at your proposed service. Once we're satisfied, and you've fulfilled your PhonepayPlus obligations, your Premium Rate Service can be activated. This process typically takes 2 business days.
