Setting up call blocking for your business
Put an end to those unwanted callers such as telemarketers and phone canvassers. You can set up a call blocking service to block up to 20 different numbers or even entire number ranges. This can help make your business more effective and efficient, by avoiding wasted time answering calls from unwanted callers.
Blocking numbers
Following these simple steps below will enable you to configure this service and start blocking those unwanted calls.
- Log in by either clicking on the login button in the header or by going to www.myttnc.co.uk
- Click on the 'Phone Numbers' tab in the left hand menu.
- Click on the 'Edit' button on the number you want to setup Call Blocking.
- Select Call Blocking from the list of services.
- There are four different ways to block calls:
- Select group: If you've set up a blocking group, you can select it using the drop down at the top.
- Enter number or range: You can manually enter an individual number or number range (for example enter '0800' to block all calls from 0800 numbers).
- Select from recent calls: Use the drop down box to choose from a recent call.
- Block Withheld calls: Just click the button to block any calls that have their number withheld.
- The optional description field helps you to distinguish between the different numbers you add.
- Once a number or group has been entered or selected (and a description has been added if desired) just click on the 'Add to block list' button to add the number to your blocked list. The bar on the left of the setup shows the amount of blocked numbers you have and fills up each time you add a new number.
Playing a rejection message
You can choose to have a message played to the blocked callers; it'll say: "Sorry, calls to this number are currently restricted." If you choose not to, they'll simply hear a 'Dead Tone' and then will be disconnected.
Setting up a blocking group
Follow these steps to create a blocking group, which you can apply across all your numbers:
- Log in by either clicking on the login button in the header or by going to www.myttnc.co.uk
- Click on the 'Call Blocking Groups' link in the left hand menu.
- Click the 'Create new group' button.
- In the popup, type a name for the group and then click the 'Create group' button.
- With the group created, there are two different ways to block calls;
- Enter number: You can manually enter an individual number or number range (for example enter '0800' to block all calls from 0800 numbers).
- Select from recent calls: Use the drop down box to choose from a recent call.
- The optional description field helps you to distinguish between the different numbers you add.
- Once a number has been entered or selected (and a description has been added if desired) just click on the 'Add to block list' button to add the number to the blocked list for this group.
To use the group on one of your numbers, follow the steps detailing how to block numbers. Make sure to select the appropriate group when you get to step 5.
If you make any amendments to your group, such as adding or removing numbers, these changes will be automatically applied across all TTNC numbers that use the group.
